Daddy loves Maddy

Father's Day is this weekend and my dad has been wanting something, anything I can sew. Well, I don't know about you, but I can't just do any old pattern and call it good enough. Not for my dad.
Thinking about my dad and the things that he enjoys and really loves these days and I came up with my theme. He has this very old and quite fat little dachshund named Maddy. He swears she is more intelligent than most people and she really has become his best companion. So I wanted to make a quilt with her in mind but in his favorite colors. He said his favorite color combination is orange, brown and white. Then he says he likes blue too. To which I say, "I gotchu!"

I decided to make my first Quilt As You Go (QAYG) quilt. I didn't want to follow a pattern so I made my own. I wanted Dad to get something completely my own design. I'm mailing it to him tomorrow so he gets it before Sunday. I hope he likes it.

Isnt it always the way

So I start the new blog and what happens? Life. Life happened. My husband and I own a couple businesses and they've gotten very busy. No sew for bo-bo. I have started a quilt as you go quilt for my dad for Father's Day. I will post pics when I get a little progress. Next week I will be getting a large fireworks order for a fireworks stand that I'm running this summer. Mama is tired and not speaking in complete sentences. Next month, I plan on getting dads quilt together and ready to ship. Soon...

Hi and Welcome!

So I'm gonna try this blogging thing again. I've tried it before and I feel like I'm just not terribly interesting. So I've decided that I'm going to write this for me. I want to chronicle all my mistakes as I learn from them anyway. I mean, have you ever made a bone-headed move, learn from it only to make the same bone-headed move again a month later? Me too.
So, a little about me, as uninteresting as that might be. I started sewing 4 months ago. Yup, that's right, 4 months. In that time I have made half a dozen quilts, about the same amount of totes and purses, and a wallet. I like to challenge myself, I guess. I'll probably post some pics of the progression in my next post. I will say that I have discovered longarm quilting and i want a longarm almost more than I feel the need to breathe and I have been turned on to turned edge appliqué and I am equally addicted. It's late as I write this I think I should bring this to a wrap. Until next time.
